Cardinals Reject Hope in Leo XIV on Roman Rite

Several anonymous cardinals and curial officials told the Substack.com account The Pillar on April 17 that they do not expect any resolution to the question of the Mass in the Roman rite in the near future.
Some Catholics had hoped the next extraordinary consistory of cardinals on June 26–27 would address the liturgical issue. Instead, Leo XIV chose to focus on Francis' document Evangelii Gaudium.
One Vatican official said that Leo XIV was not very familiar with traditional communities or even the traditional liturgy, and that his primary concern was not liturgy but whether members of those communities accept the Second Vatican Council.
As early as June 2025, the best friend of Leo XIV, Alejandro Moral, Prior General of the Augustinians, had already ruled out any return of the older form of the Mass under his pontificate.

Paul VI killed the Old Mass; JP II gave it a tiny life; Benedict opened it up greatly, saying it had never really been officially done away with; Francis tried to kill it; Leo seems happy with Francis's decision. Zigzag, zigzag, what is the layman to think? "Officer, the light was green when I went through it." "Well, it's red now and you are in trouble." Why should the laity respect the governance of the Church?

The Description of Holy Spirit ~ 'The Revelations of Saint Bridget of Sweden'; ‘The words of an angel to the bride about whether the spirit of her thoughts is good or bad…’; Book I; Chapter 54

[Saint Bridget of Sweden/ Heliga Birgitta; XIV Century AD: aged 69-70; Uppland, Sweden/Rome, Papal States; Widow, Mystic; Spiritual Writer; Founder; Patroness of Europe]
Chapter 54 ~ The words of an angel to the bride about whether the spirit of her thoughts is good or bad, and about how there are two spirits, one uncreated and one created, and about their characteristics.
A holy angel spoke to the bride and said: “There are two spirits, one uncreated and one created.
The uncreated Spirit has three characteristics:
First, he is hot; second, sweet; and third, pure.
First, he gives off warmth,
and his warmth does not come from created things but from himself, since he, together with the Father and the Son, is Creator of all things and Almighty. He gives off warmth when the whole soul burns for the love of God.
Second, he is sweet, when nothing pleases the soul and nothing delights it but God and the recollection of his deeds.

Majority of French Think Country Experiencing ‘Great Replacement’ by Non-European Migrants – Allah's Willing Executioners

Six in ten adults in France believe that their country is facing a “great replacement” with the mass importation of non-European immigrants.
A
survey conducted by the Institut français d’opinion publique (Ifop) research firm has found that 60 per cent of French people believe that their country is experiencing a “profound demographic transformation” and that the French are being “progressively replaced by non-European populations, primarily from the African continent.”
Of those who agreed with the statement, 66 per cent said the development was entirely bad, compared with 21 per cent who felt it was neither good nor bad, and 9 per cent who felt it was a positive development.
Opinions on the matter were divided largely along party lines, with supporters of Marine Le Pen’s National Rally being the most concerned about demographic displacement at 81 per cent, compared to 76 per cent of Les Républicains voters, 37 per cent of Macron supporters, and just 30 per cent of far-left La France …

Alas, my dear brethren, what have we become even since our conversion?

Instead of going always forward and increasing in holiness, what laziness and what indifference we display! God cannot endure this perpetual inconstancy with which we pass from virtue to vice and from vice to virtue. Tell me, my children, is not this the very pattern of the way you live? Are your poor lives anything other than a succession of good deeds and bad deeds? Is it not true that you go to Confession and the very next day you fall again -- or perhaps the very same day? .... Vatican Is Responsible for 'Valley of the Fallen', Not Madrid Cardinal - Minister

Amid growing controversy over the future of the Valley of the Fallen, Spain’s Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, has defended Cardinal José Cobo of Madrid.
Bolaños told LaSexta.com that the plan to secularise the religious site was not the cardinal's initiative, but the result of an agreement reached directly with the Vatican.
He emphasised that no personal deal had been made with Cobo, who has faced significant pressure from Catholics over the issue.
The minister also said that the Vatican is fully committed to transforming the Valley from a monastery into a site of "democratic memory".
Addressing divisions within the Catholic Church, Bolaños described it as a 'plural organisation', while criticising more traditional sectors that oppose the transformation and suggesting that they are out of step with 'contemporary society'.
He also placed the “re-signification” of the Valley within a broader set of negotiations between the Spanish government and the Church, covering issues …More

'He's a saint': New book suggests Leo XIV was Pope Francis' candidate - LifeSite

Tue Apr 21, 2026 - 12:04 pm EDT
VATICAN CITY (
LifeSiteNews) — A new book published in Italy reveals further elements that fuel the hypothesis that Cardinal Robert Prevost had long been the successor designated by Pope Francis.
On April 7, the Italian publishing house Piemme released a new book by Vatican News journalist Salvatore Cernuzio titled Padre (“Father”), which gathers several testimonies exchanged between the Vatican reporter and the late Pope Francis — including one that suggests a particular fondness for then‑Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost.
“Him? He’s a saint,” Francis told Cernuzio, specifying that by the word ‘saint’ the Pope meant “people capable of calmly handling discussions, tensions and complex situations, and of managing to create unity.”
Starting in 2012, Cernuzio and Francis developed a deep and confidential friendship — one that, as the book’s title suggests, could be likened to a father‑son relationship. Their conversations, phone calls, and meetings were …

A priest admits that the Novus Ordo Mass, as it is, doesn’t naturally foster reverence or the priest’s inner spiritual life and requires extra effort to make it meaningful.
The author finds it surprising that people can recognize this problem without concluding that something went seriously wrong when this newer form replaced the traditional, spiritually rich rite that nourished many saints.
In short, instead of trying to improve the Novus Ordo, the author argues that the Church should return fully to the traditional rite, calling this the most important task for the Western Church today.

The Novus Ordo and the Interior Life

We’ve all been to our fair share of banal, cringe, or even disrespectful Novus Ordo Masses. As a priest who celebrates the Novus Ordo, I can see how easy it is in the New Rite to fall into those traps. It is evermore necessary, then, for a priest who celebrates the Novus Ordo to cultivate a rich interior life of union with Christ because this is the only antidote to the myriad of temptations to trivialize the liturgy.
This temptation does not exist in the TLM. By the very structure of the liturgy, it is nearly impossible to celebrate it irreverently. Of course, every priest should live in intimacy with God, but even a priest who doesn’t pray much can still celebrate the TLM in an objectively reverent way. The Latin Mass is structured in such a way as to eliminate the temptation for a priest to insert his personality, his ego, and his weaknesses into the liturgy.
Of course, this is not foolproof. St. Alphonsus Liguori, in his Dignity and Duties of the Priest, states that a priest commits …

Italian Bishop Holds "Prayer" Vigil Against Homophobia

The Diocese of Cremona, Italy, has announced two spring events flirting with homosexuality. A biblical-theological meeting will take place on April 24, followed by a prayer vigil on May 8 at the Church of San Giuseppe in Cambonino.
The April meeting, led by Jesuit priest Father Iuri Sandrin, is intended to reflect on how homosexual relationships raise questions for Christian communities.
The May vigil, presided over by Bishop Antonio Napolioni, is described as being for the overcoming of discrimination, particularly "homophobia" and "transphobia".
According to the diocese, the initiatives aim to “help” homosexuals to feel more included in the Church.
The announcement also references a 2025 synodal document by the Italian Bishops’ Conference, which encourages local Churches to promote homosexualism.
In November 2018, Monsignor Napolioni held an ecumenical prayer vigil with Methodists and Seventh-day Adventists in Cremona.

"Nowadays, preachers and congregations are so shallow that if a sermon is not full of polished and studied phrases, and a dash of novelty, they are too critical to take any notice of it. So in order that the word of the Lord should come to them in a way they will not disdain or scorn, to the peril of their souls, I have prefaced each gospel with a suitable prologue, and included in the work itself illustrations drawn from physics and natural history, and explanations of the meanings of words, expounded from the standpoint of morality."

First, a brief comparison. In history class, we learned about a Mongol ruler from the turn of the 12th to the 13th century: the ruthless conqueror of half the world, Genghis Khan. His wars claimed the lives of 40 million people at the time—that is 11.11% of the entire known world population. Today I asked “Google Intelligence” the following question: How did Genghis Khan treat envoys? The answer surprised me greatly:
Genghis Khan treated envoys with the utmost respect, and their protection was a fundamental principle of Mongol law and strategy. The most important aspects of this topic are listed below:
Absolute inviolability: The killing of an envoy (ambassador) was considered one of the gravest acts of hostility, which typically led to merciless revenge and the complete destruction of the state that had committed such an act;
The Jam System (Jaam): Genghis Khan established an efficient courier system (Jam) that enabled messengers to travel …
