Tragic Suicide of Italian -Priest, 75 Italian priest Lino Zatelli, 75, killed himself on August 12. He had been parish priest of San Carlo Borromeo in Trento for a quarter of a century. He was found dead inside the rectory of his parish after he didn’t show up to celebrate the Eucharist. Corriere del Trentino reported the death as a voluntary act. Last Sunday, there was another bomb attack on a church in Syria. This time, however, no one was killed or injured. Security camera footage shows a masked man placing the bomb underneath a car parked directly in front of the Greek Orthodox St. George’s Cathedral in Hama. The bomb exploded later that evening. September 14 (the day after the attack) is traditionally celebrated in the Greek Orthodox Church as the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross. There was no church service taking place in the cathedral at the time, which likely saved many lives. However, the church was damaged in the attack, and many windows were shattered by the explosion. Children were playing in the church courtyard nearby, but they too were unharmed. Nevertheless, the shock runs deep. Christians see the attack as a clear signal directed against them.
