New Zealand to Build First New Cathedral in Over 120 Years: The Diocese of Christchurch has unveiled the design for the new Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, which will stand on the site of the original cathedral destroyed after the devastating Canterbury earthquakes (2010-2011). The new cathedral will preserve historic stained-glass windows. It's a roughly $80 million New Zealand dollar project (about US$46m). The diocese is currently in a fundraising phase. Partner is the architecture firm Warren and Mahoney. The style is "an ancient design, a Romanesque and Gothic hybrid model".

The heat has already become one of the main sources of discontent among visitors. On social media, comments from tourists in various languages are multiplying, complaining about high temperatures in the galleries, made worse by the huge influx of people who travel the unique exhibition route every day... ...According to reports circulating in museum circles, in recent days there was a malfunction of the system in the room dedicated to Henri Matisse, where the original preparatory cartoons for the stained glass windows of the Chapel of the Rosary in Vence are kept. These are particularly delicate works. Matisse made these large cartoons by applying and gluing colored, cut papers onto a base support, a technique that makes the material especially sensitive to temperature changes and, above all, to humidity. Again according to reports, the malfunction caused hot and humid air to enter the room just as Rome was experiencing extreme temperatures outside. Some photos taken by tour guides …Sateruse

A 31-year-old Polish man, identified by regional media as Bartłomiej Włodzimierz Krakowiak, has been arrested for vandalizing the Marian shrine of Medjugorje during the night of 27–28 July, just days before Mladifest, which is expected to attract around 50,000 young pilgrims. "Medjugorje Is a Deception" The suspect allegedly poured black paint over statues of the Virgin Mary on Apparition Hill and at the Blue Cross, wrote "Devil in a skirt" on one statue. He hung banners accusing the six visionaries of being "frauds - I have proof", spray-painted slogans including "Medjugorje is a deception," "Only Jesus," and "Mary = devil," and set fire to the recently renovated outdoor altar behind St. James Church. He was arrested hours later in Černo, near Ljubuški, heading toward the Croatian border. Former Pilgrim The case is particularly striking because the suspect had previously visited Medjugorje as a pilgrim. Regional media report that in 2017 he walked 1,300 km from Warsaw to the shrine, …Sateruse
Pro-homosexual Archbishop John C. Wester of Santa Fe, New Mexico, defended "our Muslim neighbors' right to worship" in a July 27 statement. He had heard in recent weeks concerns from some residents regarding the proposal to build a mosque and community center in Albuquerque's North Valley. "Our Muslim neighbors have the same God-given and constitutionally protected right to worship freely as every other faith community, including our own. Defending that right is not only a civic duty but a core element of Catholic teaching", the Archbishop wrote. According to Monsignor Wester, supporting the construction of a mosque is entirely consistent with Catholic tradition and moral commitments. He urged Catholics to "choose respect, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence." In 2025, it emerged that, Archbishop Wester promoted and lived with a priest who had spent ten years in a registered homosexual relationship. Picture: AI, #newsXofkbkkgnx
Berlin’s homosex march 'Christopher Street Day' is a “joyful and moving celebration.” That is what pro-homosexual Archbishop Heiner Koch of Berlin told KNA on Sunday. He spoke after an attack on the march on Saturday evening. One woman was killed, and at least 31 others were injured, some of them seriously. The attacker, Abdul B., 21, drove a car into the crowd and was later - conveniently for the justice system and politicians - shot dead during a police operation. The full context of Archbishop Koch's statement is: "How terrible! To brutally destroy such a joyful and moving celebration. We keep all the victims, their families, friends, and everyone whose joy has been taken away by hatred in our prayers. Hatred must not prevail." Abdul B. was born in Berlin in 2005 and grew up there. His parents are from Lebanon, and he held German citizenship. His family belongs to a large extended clan. He had been known to the security authorities for years and was considered part of the Islamist …Sateruse

That under Pope Francis "certain difficulties and troubles became evident" is "undeniable." So said Archbishop Georg Gänswein, who turns 70 on Thursday, in an interview published by Katholisch.de on July 27. Monsignor Gänswein believes Leo XIV recognizes these problems and is addressing them. In Germany, the chief concern of Monsignor Gänswein remains the "Synodal Way": "The tensions surrounding the Synodal Way and various initiatives that break away from the Catholic faith continue to exist and await a final resolution. For many Catholics in Germany who simply want to live their faith, this is a millstone around their neck." Contradicting his own criticism, however, Archbishop Gänswein said he has "a good impression" of the new president of the German bishops' conference, Bishop Heiner Wilmer of Münster. He is a leading supporter of and affirmative voter for the German Synodal Way. #newsWbfhggjvyv
“My concern centres on that unwieldy term, the ‘Synodal Path’,” Archbishop Gänswein said. “Fruitless debates about structures and similar issues tie up vital energy in the wrong areas.”
I didn't think I should wait later today. “I do not know to what extent our government is ready to make such a decision,” he said. “The victory of the Russian Federation in this war, in this special military operation, is in our interests, because we are not talking only about sovereignty and the existential danger to Russia itself, which NATO, the European Union and the United States are trying to pose in every possible way.”
Article here for those who want to translate it easier. Russia’s victory over Ukraine to benefit all humanity – academic Moscow is a bulwark against NATO and the EU, which are trying to erode national sovereignty in countries like Greece, Dimitrios Patelis has said Russia’s victory in the Ukraine conflict would serve the interests of “all peace-loving humanity” by checking NATO and EU encroachment on national sovereignty, Greek philosophy professor Dimitrios Patelis has told RT. Patelis, who teaches at the Technical University of Crete, made the remarks in an interview aired on Tuesday, saying that Greece’s NATO and EU commitments have pushed national security “into the background.” He argued that pan-European legislation is now taking precedence over national law and effectively negates sovereignty and independence for member states such as Greece. In this vein, the professor alluded to reports that Athens is under sustained pressure from NATO and EU partners to transfer Patriot air …Sateruse
